On 2nd September the Conservative led Cabinet on the Council will decide the fate of the free swimming scheme on the Wirral.
The scheme in Wirral is one of the most used and popular in the country. If the cabinet decides to scrap the scheme in a couple of weeks time then thousands of regular swimmers will simply not be able to swim as often, for some it will mean not being able to swim at all.
At the Council meeting on 12th July, Liscard labour Councillor Darren Dodd tabled a motion urging the Council to support long term free swimming in Wirral, this was amended by Conservative and Liberal Democrat Councillors saying that the funding for free swimming was under review and could potentially be cut.
