Record GCSE Results An Achievement To Be Proud Of

Once again after early analysis of this years GCSE results Wirral Students have performed better than ever.

This year 54% of Wirral Students achieved 5+ A*-C grades which is the new national indicator, compared to 50% last year. Additionally 72% achieved 5 or more A* -C GCSE results compared to 66% last year. Labour Councillor Phil Davies who is the Cabinet Member for Childrens Services and Lifelong Learning said

The results are fantastic once again and I want to congratulate the staff and students for yet another year of record breaking achievement. This demonstrates the Councils investment in education over past few years is paying dividends.

These results together with the £26.5 million investment in the new Woodchurch High School demonstrate the commitment to education by the Labour Party.

St Benedicts

Upton Labour Community Action Team members, Councillors John George and Tony Smith have been instrumental in getting the St Benedicts site cleared after a proposed housing development for the site fell through because of the credit crunch.

St Benedicts School has now been demolished and work is continuing to make the site ready for when market conditions to improve.
